Why I’m running for Baltimore County Council District 3

On Friday February 23, 2018, I filed to run for Baltimore County Council District 3. Here’s why.

It’s because I’ve lived in this district for 22 years–and I know that it is time for a fresh start.

For too long, our political leaders have favored the interests of big money and developers over the concerns of regular people. Developers have wrangled special deals and exceptions to the rules. Our students have been forced to learn in overcrowded classrooms in crumbling buildings, we have a public transit system that neither serves the needs of community members nor those of business owners, and our county is in the midst of an opioid epidemic that has led to the death of thousands of our neighbors.

As a parent, an educator, an advocate and a long-time resident, I know we can do better.

We deserve a transparent and responsive government that listens to the people and not to big money interests. Together, we can achieve a plan for 21st-century schools that doesn’t pit one school against another. We can revitalize our ailing commercial corridors and protect our green space. We can implement real solutions to our opioid crisis.

Don’t you think so, too?
